Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current facility, local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for nursing employees as indicated in the organizational chart Reports to the Director of Nursing to convey resident status and other conditions related to the nursing department Works as needed, schedule to be flexible, is approved by the Director of Nursing and the Administrator Assumes all responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in their absence.
Familiarity with these functions is achieved through close association and constant communication regarding such responsibilities on a day-to-day basis with the Director of Nursing Reviews the 24-hour report.
Obtains a report of residents' condition from rounds on the nursing units and reports pertinent information to the Director of Nursing Reviews all laboratory reports, making a notation of all abnormal results and assuring that the attending physician is to be notified Initiates and compiles infection surveillance forms, as indicated by abnormal culture and sensitivity reports, to ensure treatment and resolution of said infection.
Reviews all resident incident reports, recommending prevention for other necessary actions.
All resident incident reports are on file in the Assistant Director of Nursing office Directs and supervises the implementation of resident care policies.
Monitors changes in residents' condition and addresses any other circumstances that warrant attention Attends resident comprehensive care plan meeting as requested.
Attends meetings as invited or required (i.
e.
, morning report, skin, A&I, infection control, etc.
) Attend as an active member of the QAPI committee Plans organizes, implements, evaluates, coordinates, and directs an effective infection controls program by all rules and regulations Ensures all infection control precautions and aseptic techniques are practiced appropriately Performs all special investigations of nosocomially acquired infections.
Traces possible sources of disease in the facility.
Institutes appropriate actions to confine infections.
Maintains a written record of all nosocomial infections Prepares monthly summaries of residents and personnel, infections, corrective actions taken, and corrective action results.
Reports all reportable diseases and rates of conditions over the threshold to NYSDOH as per policy Assists in developing and implementing guidelines for decontamination and sterilization in the facility Assists all departments in evaluating and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure tasks involving blood/bodily fluids are correctly identified Makes rounds to nursing units for case finding, reviews sanitation procedures, and supervises isolation/precaution practices REQUIREMENTS:
